Mazda Gives Back To Communities

Everyone loves a company that gives back to their communities. To support the communities they serve, Mazda created the Mazda Foundation. In addition to financial support, Mazda employees regularly volunteer their time to help the communities they live and work in.

Since it was founded in 1992, the Mazda Foundation has made contributions exceeding $12.5 million to help thousands of Americans through a variety of programs — from children’s organizations and educational scholarships to food banks, environmental programs and crucial disaster relief efforts.

The Mazda Foundation helps fund non-profit organizations in the areas of education, literacy, social welfare, scientific research, cross-cultural understanding, and environmental conservation.

Each year, between May 1 and July 1, non-profit organizations can apply for a grant from Mazda Foundation. The Mazda Foundation primarily considers grant applications from organizations located in markets where Mazda has offices (Irvine, CA; Bridgewater, NJ; Chicago, IL; Sugarland, TX; and Jacksonville, FL).

Here are just some of the programs that the Mazda Foundation supports:

After-School All Stars

This after-school program helps students develop leadership skills and encourages kids to help in their community. Students participate in student-led, curriculum-driven service-learning projects where they learn new concepts and develop a strong sense of social responsibility.

Building Homes for Heroes

Building Homes for Heroes® helps rebuild lives and supports the brave men and women who were injured while serving our country during the Iraq or Afghanistan wars. This organization builds or modifies homes to make it easier for a disabled veteran to get around in their home and then gifts the home — mortgage-free — to veterans and their families.

Second Harvest Food Bank

Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County collects food and gives it to more than 400 local member charities. This organization helps lessen hunger and malnutrition among the elderly and children who live in poverty. A holiday project was even created to give needy people traditional holiday meals.
